Irena Lavine
Dr. Irena Lavine is a pediatrician serving as a Lead Physician in the Division of Gastroenterology, Office of Immunology and Inflammation, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, U.S. Food & Drug Administration. She leads a team of clinical reviewers who work to advance drug development in multiple areas of gastroenterology, including celiac disease.
Prior to joining the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, Dr. Lavine practiced as a pediatrician with Virginia Pediatric Group and pediatric hospitalist at Inova Children’s Hospital. As an outpatient pediatrician and inpatient pediatric hospitalist, she mentored and supervised medical students and residents. Dr. Lavine earned her M.D. from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and completed pediatric residency at Inova Children’s Hospital in Northern Virginia.
