Marie Robert International Celiac Disease Symposium 2026

Marie Robert

Marie Robert is a gastrointestinal pathologist at Yale University School of Medicine who has been studying celiac disease (CeD) from a diagnostic, clinical trial and translational research perspective for many years. Her participation in the field has been wide ranging, from leading multiinstitutional studies of pathologists (refractory celiac disease, correlation of biopsies with clinical disease activity surrogates and surveys of current pathology practices and attitudes in Ced) to assisting clinical trialists to establish histology evaluation platforms, to fundamental translational research in spatial transcriptomics/proteomics. She was recently elected to the executive council and research committee of the Society for the Study of Celiac Disease and is on the Definitions and Diagnosis committee of the ISSCD. Currently, she co-leads the NIH funded Yale CeD Translational Immunobiology Group studying disease pathogenesis. She also leads an 11-center pathology study aimed to improve general pathology practice with respect to grading biopsy activity in CeD, in anticipation of the need for more accurate and reliable disease activity scores in the emerging era of CeD therapeutics.
