MERLIN NANAYAKKARA
Dr. Merlin Nanayakkara is a Senior Clinical Biologist and Researcher at the Federico II University Hospital in Naples, Italy, within the Department of Specialized Pediatrics. She is the lead scientist responsible for establishing an intestinal organoid Biobank at the ELFID (European Laboratory for the Investigation of Food Induced Diseases). This Biobank features organoids derived primarily from a pediatric population, encompassing both intestinal and non-intestinal diseases linked by an underlying chronic inflammatory state. Her work leverages patient-derived biological material to pioneer the application of personalized and precision medicine.
