Maureen M Leonard

Maureen Leonard, MD, MMSc, is Director of the Center for Celiac Research and Treatment at MassGeneral for Children and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. A physician-scientist and board-certified pediatric gastroenterologist, she is an internationally recognized leader in celiac disease research, prevention, and treatment. Dr. Leonard leads the international CDGEMM Study, a prospective birth cohort investigating genetic, microbial, metabolic, and environmental factors that influence the development of celiac disease. Her research focuses on identifying biomarkers of disease onset and intestinal healing, advancing prevention strategies, and developing novel therapies through clinical trials. She currently serves as Chair-Elect of the Society for the Study of Celiac Disease and previously co-chaired the NASPGHAN Celiac Disease Special Interest Group.
